Go Wi-Fi! E500 - Windows
This release adds support for Windows XP/2000/Me/98SE for the Socket CF WLAN Card. WPA is now supported on Windows XP with SP2, or SP1 with WPA Wireless Security Update. (Available from www.microsoft.com)
Download the self extractor file and double-click the file to extract the installation files and the HTML setup center will start.
The installation consists of two separate pieces of software:
a) Driver installation: inserting the card into the PC Card slot (using a CF-to-PC Card adapter) will initiate the New Hardware Wizard in the Windows desktop operating system. Select the Search option and point/browse to the location of the driver software (CD-ROM or web download). Follow the instructions in the Wizard until the driver is successfully installed.
b) Client Manager (CM) utility software: this utility provides WLAN configuration and monitoring tools. The CM is required for Windows 98SE, 2000 and Me for configuration of WLAN settings. In Windows XP, the CM only provides monitoring tools as XP's Wireless Connection utility (a.k.a. Wireless Zero Configuration) is used for configuring WLAN settings. The CM is thus optional for Windows XP as it is not required for WLAN configuration. To start the installation wizard, run the "setup.exe" file in the folder named "Windows".
A new and separate User's Guide for Windows desktop operating system use is included. Please refer to this new Guide for detailed instructions on installation and usage.
